2020 Season Announcement
Hello Lacrosse families
As you are aware 2020 has been a year no one expected or could have planned for. As we are all struggling to come to some kind of normal, the SBLA executive is continuing to meet and plan for what could be a Summer/Fall Box lacrosse season and what that may look like, should we get the go ahead with part 2 of phase 4. We are waiting on direction from Sask Health, Sask Lacrosse for when it is safe to do so.
We want to thank you for completing the SLA survey and let you know we have heard you. There are many of you that are wanting to get back to the game, no matter what that looks like or what time of year get started. That is wonderful to hear, and like you, we cannot wait either!
We understand that what comes of this hybrid 2020 season may not work for some of you and you may have already asked for a refund. Upon review of the financials and getting advice on how to move forward to ensure we are still around to have a 2021 season. Many costs have already been incurred, and will continue to be incurred, such as website subscription fees, bank fees, insurance renewal, equipment orders already processed, rental payments for winter try lacrosse, storage fees, just to name a few.
Families that have already registered, and paid for their child for the 2020 season, will get a refund with a retainer being held back to assist us in covering the costs indicated above. The SBLA does not carry a large balance forward to cover circumstances like what we are experiencing now, and we need your understanding to ensure we are not financially ruined by the events of this pandemic.
Please be aware everyone is trying to understand what the future holds for lacrosse in Saskatoon and how we can ensure our children are able to enjoy this sport for many more years to come.
When and if we get the go ahead for the Summer/Fall box season, we will open the registration site for those players interested in joining us. As we are still working through these details and what that looks like and what the associated costs will be.
The SBLA is still working and investigating avenues for additional funding. Should we be successful in securing any additional funding, this could result in players being credited the retained amount for their 2021 lacrosse season registration.
